Internal Order Groups: A valuable force for the smooth operation of Defense Zones

Working hard in times of peace and preparing meticulously is the best way to avoid war. Because of this truth, well known among Cubans, everything done within a Defense Zone—which encompasses what we know as the People’s Council—takes on particular significance; and the ways in which the forces there organize themselves to prevent and address exceptional situations are crucial.
In these times, the fact that an Internal Order Group is integrated into the work within the Defense Zone represents an opportunity to expand and share experiences among various stakeholders, to refine organizational structures, and to ensure that necessary information flows in a timely manner—always with the aim of improving life in the community.
Given the potential inherent in the work of the Internal Order Group, this Saturday morning the President of the National Defense Council, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, visited the "Wajay" Defense Zone—one of seven in the capital’s Boyeros municipality—where he listened to accounts and shared ideas on how to better leverage the structural and organizational reserves of a territory preparing for exceptional situations.
The integration of all forces—including those of the Internal Order Group—within a Defense Zone ensures—as discussed during the meeting—that problems can be identified more precisely, information can be utilized, and analyses can be developed; and thus, solutions to problems can be designed and implemented more effectively. This was the basis of the remarks made by the officers who shared their experiences this Saturday regarding their day-to-day work in the field.
Toward the end of the discussion, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, highlighted the contribution—in terms of organizational methods—made by the work of the Internal Order Group, alongside the other structures, within a Defense Zone.
In his view, this represents a coherent, precise, firm, and creative response that has been carried out in detail; the Head of State praised this approach, also noting how the integration of these forces, together with the people, can foster cohesion and improve operations in each of the districts.
Díaz-Canel Bermúdez thanked those present for their analyses and for each idea, and shared his conviction that, to the extent that work is done to integrate the Defense Zone, overall performance can improve—based on the premise that there is no shortage of organizational resources and that it will always be possible to devise different solutions tailored to the characteristics of each location.
Also present this Saturday morning were Army Corps General and Minister of the Interior Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas; Army Corps General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo, First Deputy Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and Chief of the General Staff; and Major General and Secretary of the Council of Ministers José Amado Ricardo Guerra; all three of whom are members of the Political Bureau.
