SANTA CLARA – In difficult times, like those our country is experiencing, gestures like the one made by the tobacco farmers of Villa Clara are greatly appreciated. They have just donated 48 modules capable of guaranteeing the electrical power needed, in case of emergency, by vital centers in the province, such as polyclinics, maternity and nursing homes, funeral homes, and hospitals, among other places.
This donation, consisting of photovoltaic panels and power stations, is the result of the effort and personal commitment of a group of producers who, demonstrating their human compassion, have dedicated their savings to such noble causes.
This aid adds to previous efforts, which have included waterproofing hospital roofs, purchasing air conditioning units and fans, restoring and replacing woodwork and furniture, and painting wards and common areas, among other actions that already benefit hundreds of children, young people, and the elderly.
Solidarity, one of the most effective ways to resist and move forward in such a complex context, highlights that characteristic that distinguishes Cubans: sharing everything they have, especially with those in the most vulnerable positions.
Other economic actors in the region, both state-owned and private, have also joined this initiative and are preparing their donations of food, equipment, clothing, and utensils to distribute to those who need them most.
