The Martyrs’ Forest of the Monumental Complex of the State Security Bodies, in the municipality of Boyeros, was the scene of yesterday’s tribute the soldiers of silence.
A group of combatants of all generations gathered at the political and cultural event that paid tribute to the 66th anniversary of the State Security Bodies, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; and the member of the Political Bureau and Minister of the Interior, Major General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas.
In the sacred place that bears witness to the 105 martyrs that the Homeland does not forget, which was born on March 26, 2009, with the presence at that time of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, members of the Central Committee of the Party, chiefs and officers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as other members and collaborators of the State Security were present.
The tribute included the staging of historical passages that condense the revolutionary intransigence, and the projection of images alluding to a place full of unforgettable phrases of fighters such as Martí, Fidel, Che Guevara, and Juan Almeida Bosque.
“March 26, 1959 is the historic moment when a new conception began to be formed to organize a security system capable of defending the Revolution against its internal and external enemies, whose members had to act and learn in the intensity of the battles, with more creativity and determination than material resources”, expresses the letter of congratulations from the Minister of the Interior to the members of the State Security Bodies, read by the head of the Political Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, Brigadier General Oscar Alejandro Callejas Valcarce.
He extended the “permanent homage to all those who gave their lives in fulfillment of their duty to the Homeland, the recognition to the chiefs, officers, collaborators and civilian workers who have given prestige to this force with their trajectory, throughout all these years”, and acknowledged “the young officers, who with the inexhaustible energy of the new generations, are nourished by the best experiences, knowledge, examples, and history, to assume the challenges of the present and the future”.
“66 years ago, genetically derived from our Mambí intelligence and the rebel intelligence apparatus, with the experiences of the political and conspiratorial action of the plain, with the indisputable seal of our Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, along with other prestigious chiefs and fighters, our glorious State Security was born,” said Brigadier General Norge Fermin Enrich Pons, member of the Central Committee of the Party and head of the General Directorate of Counterintelligence.
Thus arose, he affirmed, the State Security, “with the lineage and bravery of Alberto Delgado Delgado, our Man of Maisinicú, legend and infinite example”, and maintained that “the Security successfully confronted infiltration plans, CIA networks and clandestine cells, armed bands, enemy agents that were planted in the different sectors of society, and the first attempts of CIA recruitment of ministers, directors and technicians”.
He denounced that “the U.S. government, its special services and the mafia it created, in their desperation, appealed to everything, such as State terrorism, a crime like the one in Barbados, more than 600 attempts to assassinate the Commander-in-Chief, bombs and assassinations abroad, biological warfare against everything that prospered -which included our children-, and an unprecedented economic war; all of which qualify as crimes against humanity”.
Those heroes “have been and are everywhere, inside and outside Cuba. They are our attentive eyes and ears, radars that protect their Homeland 24 hours a day,” he assured.
“Today we have the privilege of having the history of the Five Heroes alive, the symbolism of their presence, and of what they represent for current generations.” Intergenerational connection, unity of all the revolutionary forces that, as comrade Raúl said, must be very well cared for.
