Two years after the Saberes de los Maestros Roneros Cubanos was declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the CubaRon Corporation will hold the 7th International Scientific-Technical Colloquium on Cuban Light Rum.

Between the 11th and 13th of this month, the Colegio de San Geronimo in Havana will host the makers of this beverage to share knowledge and ways of making rum, present the results of new research, update regulatory documents, and highlight the role of sugar cane in the rum-making process.

Juan Carlos González, First Master of Cuban light rum and Leader of the Rum Masters' Movement, explained to the press that on this occasion they will exchange with producers associated with the rum industry and trade, as well as present new products and highlight the relationship between rum development and Cuban nationality.

Andro Abón Mazar, president of the CubaRon S.A. Corporation, explained that this Colloquium is an educational exchange and is the prelude to the Cuban Light Rum Festival, scheduled to be held next year.

He added that peasant sugarcane producers are invited to this event, since the development of this crop is fundamental for the rum manufacturing process. To associate and align with them in an objective way is a strategy for the rescue of sugarcane production, he added.
