New Chinese donation will allow the addition of 120 megawatts of electricity generation this year

The first shipment of inputs for the execution of the project for the installation of another 120 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic solar parks, a product of the cooperation between Cuba and the People's Republic of China, is already being distributed to the territories where they will be located.p
At the reception ceremony, held recently at a logistics base a few kilometers from the port of Mariel, where the first parts and pieces of the first seven parks of 5 mw were located, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Deborah Rivas Saavedra, thanked the Chinese government for the high sensitivity and understanding to expedite the implementation of the project.
Shñe explained that these seven parks will be located in the provinces of Artemisa, Pinar del Río, Las Tunas, Holguín, Granma and Guantánamo, and the resources of the entire project will be completed in the first half of this year.
She added that this project ñis a symbol of the close and supportive cooperation between both nations, and that it includes "a second phase for another 85 mw, for a total of 120 mw, which will be installed in 2025".
Hua Xin, Chinese ambassador in Cuba, explained that the installation of these parks will mean a considerable reduction in fuel consumption, in addition to reducing energy losses and injecting vitality into the island's economic development.
This project, in the form of a donation, is being carried out between Shanghai Electric Company and the Cuban Electrical Union.
