Indian women face numerous hurdles to careers, but there are indications that is changing, BBC News reports. Fewer than one in four Indian women have paid jobs, and in urban areas the rate is even lower. Among the obstacles women face is that in India getting married is often tantamount to giving up their careers. Aswathi Nair, 24, who works for a software company, says several of her female colleagues have had to leave their jobs, either to relocate to be with their husbands or because they were expected to prioritize looking after their homes after they were married. Other women, such as Suruchi Sharma, a social media manager say they are up against attitudes toward women in the workplace….
