The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, headed the central ceremony for the 66th anniversary of the National Revolutionary Police, held at the Patrol Brigade of the General Directorate of the PNR.
The commemoration was also attended by members of the Political Bureau, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister, and Major General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas, head of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as pensioners who held positions of responsibility at different stages of the institution, and heads of the PNR and the Minint.
The ceremony was attended by officers, combatants and civilian workers, and paid tribute to the martyrs of the PNR, to its founders and to the various generations of police officers who for more than six decades have maintained the peace of the citizens.
First Colonel Eddy Manuel Sierra Arias, head of the PNR General Directorate, reviewed the history of the institution founded by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, who created, in the Second Eastern Front, a body that would put an end to corruption, abuse and police excesses during the neocolony.
The pages written by men and women since Playa Girón, characterized by commitment, courage and unwavering conviction were evoked, stressed Sierra Arias, who ratified the commitment of the combatants to always have a committed, disciplined, modern police force with a high political and ideological preparation.
He reiterated the institution's commitment to the permanent fight against crime, delinquency and any type of threat that may affect the people and the legacy of the Revolution.
Díaz-Canel, Marrero Cruz and the Minister of the Interior toured the small neighborhood where the Patrol Brigade is located, where 28 new houses were built for an equal number of PNR families, among them 23 police couples, some with small children, who now also have a children's house in the community.
