"An attack on the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, an attack on the aspirations of regional integration, and a manifestation of the willingness to subordinate themselves to the interests of the powerful neighbor to the North under the precepts of the Monroe Doctrine."
This is how the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, described the Shield of the Americas summit, held under the auspices of the President of the United States, on his social media account.
Díaz-Canel also described the meeting as a "small reactionary and neocolonial Florida Summit," in which he emphasized that the right-wing governments of the region attending committed to "accepting the lethal use of US military force to resolve internal problems and maintain order and tranquility in their countries."
BRUNO RODRÍGUEZ PARRILLA, CUBA'S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, ALSO EXPOSED WHAT LIES BEHIND THE SUMMIT THROUGH HIS ACCOUNT ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK X
"The mini-summit convened by the #USA in Florida with reactionary governments of the region seeks to force them to accept the new version of domination through the Monroe Doctrine and its Corollaries, that is, greater subordination of their nations to the Northern power."
" “The only publicly acknowledged outcome is the signing by attendees of a servile and dishonorable document that advocates the use of military force, particularly that of the United States, as a repressive weapon against criminal cartels in each country and to quell internal and border conflicts.”
“This is a clear and dangerous setback in the long and arduous process of independence for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
It represents a grave threat to peace, security, stability, and regional integrity, and a blatant violation of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a #ZoneOfPeace.”
