"Long live the Minrex! And keep fighting as you have been fighting so far, that is, well," said Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, at the ceremony marking the 65th anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a pillar of the revolutionary diplomacy.
Raúl, together with the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, led the commemoration of the founding date of this organization which, in defense of truth and justice, has made the name of Cuba vibrate in different scenarios.
The ceremony, which was also attended by other members of the Political Bureau, ministers, directors, officials and workers of the Minrex, evoked the legacy of Fidel, who designed and masterfully directed Cuba's foreign policy, and recalled the indelible imprint of the Foreign Minister of Dignity, Raúl Roa Garcia.
President Miguel Díaz-Canel spoke about the challenges faced by diplomats on a daily basis, urging them to strengthen their ideological fiber, modesty and probity, austerity and loyalty to the working people.
He called attention to the need to strengthen the capacity for analysis, to encourage the study of international law, and to understand and defend, with conviction, the principles on which the policy of the Cuban Revolution and the cause of socialism rest.
The Head of State highlighted the prestige of the Caribbean island in the international arena, condemned Israel's genocide against Palestine, underscored the countless pages written by solidarity and ratified his confidence in diplomacy, based on "a meritorious and effective service record".
Never forget, he said, "that you represent a people criminally blockaded for six decades, who have known how to resist, without renouncing to create a horizon of hope for the dispossessed. And that, for millions in the world, especially those who fight and dream of justice and true freedom for the peoples, which is, in short, to dream and fight for the best possible world, Cuba has been and continues to be a reference of dignity."
Also the member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, reviewed the history of commitment of the Minrex, paid tribute to the martyrs of the foreign service, reiterated the active commitment to the unity and integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, and thanked the world rejection of the blockade and the inclusion of Cuba in the infamous list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
In his words, he emphasized the pride of having participated "in the defense and international projection of such a just cause as the Cuban Revolution, of being heirs to the teachings of Fidel and Raúl, of representing a dignified, sacrificed and indomitable people, and of having their respect and support. We owe it to these people."
This day of celebration, which was attended by workers of the Translators and Interpreters Services Team, and professors and students of the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations, was joined by music, by the outstanding pianist and composer Frank Fernández, and the Entrevoces choir, directed by teacher Digna Guerra.
After 65 years, the struggle for peace and sovereignty, respect for the self-determination of peoples and unwavering loyalty to the homeland continue to be the compass for revolutionary diplomacy.
