Cuba updates its portfolio of business opportunities

Some 607 investment projects distributed in all provinces of the country make up the portfolio of business opportunities in Cuba after an update of this portfolio, presented at the 60th edition of the Havana International Fair (Fihav-2024).Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, head of Foreign Trade and Investment, pointed out that these are present in sectors such as food production -the one with 145-, energy, tourism, sugar agribusiness and its derivatives, transportation and logistics, efficient trade, construction, culture, telecommunications and information technology, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, among others.On the other hand, the minister added that it is expected to conclude 2024 with approximately 30 new businesses, a decrease of 12 compared to 2023, although "there are 23 projects that are in advanced stages of negotiation with important strategic partners, and we are convinced that most of them have conditions to materialize based on some concepts that we are taking into account for approval."He highlighted the approval of three new businesses in which Cubans living abroad participate, while he highlighted the presence of more than 60 compatriots present at the Fair who maintain business in the country, either in trade or investment activities. There are currently 328 businesses with foreign capital in force in Cuba: 112 joint ventures, 184 international economic association contracts, 62 businesses with one hundred percent foreign capital and three reinvestments have been approved.He explained that they are working on a process of reorganization of foreign trade with the insertion of new economic actors in the economy and the functioning of the country, which has configured a totally different environment than the one that existed years ago.Havana International Fair
